We have outlined the following policies and guidelines so you know exactly what to expect when you trust your pet to us!
Grooming Process
There are several things to keep in mind when your dog or cat is being groomed. Pets are generally washed before the groom. A clean pet is easier to groom than a dirty one. Because each pet handles the dryers differently, it is difficult to know how long drying will take. We aim to have all pets done within a 3-4 hour window, but this is not always possible.
After your pet dries, the groomer will clip the nails, clean the ears, and begin the grooming process.
Some pets may or may not like being brushed, and if they have mats, it can be a time-consuming process. Mats that are too close to the skin may need to be cut out for the comfort of your pet. You will always have the opportunity to speak with your groomer, but keep in mind there is only so much we can do when a dog or cat has severe matting.
If we cannot do what you ask, we will notify you of other options. In some cases, it is best to just start over and put your pet on a good maintenance program. The groomer can speak with you to give you advice on how often you should bring them in, proper brushes to use, and other things to help maintain your pet’s coat.
Anal Gland Expression
Because all dogs have different needs when it comes to their anal glands, we only perform this service by request and when it does not provide injury or discomfort to the dog. This service is $6 when added to a bath or groom and $10 as a stand-alone service.
Should your pet have impacted anal glands and need internal expression, a vet will need to perform this service.
Ear Care and Ear Hair Removal
All pets will have their ears cleaned with a mild ear cleaner. If your pet has an ear issue, we will let you know so you may consult your veterinarian.
Ear hair will be removed/not removed based on your preference and your vet’s advice. If you choose to have it plucked, we will only remove what is possible without injury or discomfort to the pet.
Appointment Arrival Times
Each groomer has specific appointment times they take throughout the day. Please attempt to arrive promptly for your appointment. If you will be more than 15 minutes late, we may have to call you to reschedule as we do have appointments coming in after you.
Cancellation Policy
If it is necessary to cancel/skip your grooming appointment, we ask for 24 hours’ notice when possible.
If you no-call no-show more than two times we will ask for a $25/deposit on your next groom. The $25 will be applied to the groom, however, if you cancel or no-call no-show, the deposit will not be refunded.
We understand that unexpected issues can occur without much notice. Please notify us ASAP in those cases and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Satisfaction Guarantee
Our groomers will always work to give your pet the cut that you want, however, keep in mind that the comfort and health of your pet are always our number one priority.
- We cannot send a dog or cat home in an unhealthy state.
- We will always keep notes on who groomed your pet and what was done for the groom. You are always able to request the same groomer and if they are not available, another groomer will be able to read notes on how your pet was cut.
- Please check over your groom before you leave so if there is something you want to be changed we can fix it right away. We are also happy to make any changes or fix any problems with a groom within 5 days of your original appointment.
Injuries
There is always the possibility of cuts, nicks, or burns during the grooming process. Some pets are harder to handle than others and accidents can occur. Should any an accident occur during the grooming process, we will always notify you and discuss treatment.
Special Handling
Some pets will require special handling for one reason or another. This can be due to a health issue or due to aggression. For example, if your dog is aggressive (tries to bite) and we feel there is a real risk of being bitten, a special handling fee will be added to the price as an aggressive or biting dog takes much longer to groom.
The same applies to a dog with health issues. If the pet has health issues that require the assistance of a second groomer or takes extra time to groom because it cannot stand for long periods, a special handling fee may be applied.
This fee can range but is typically $10.
Expedited Grooming
If you would like to have your pet’s grooming done from start to finish without break to ensure your pet is done in the least amount of time possible, you may request that when scheduling your appointment. Express grooming is a service that is subject to availability and may not be appropriate for all pets (i.e. Standard Poodle).
A typical charge for an expedition is $10 but can be more for larger breeds.
Dematting Fees
Matted fur is very bad for your pet’s health and can also cause them great discomfort. Matted fur pulls at the skin as it tangles. If you try to wash matted fur, it tightens up and becomes more difficult to dematt.
In addition, depending on the severity of the matted fur, we may not be able to see your pet’s skin. Underneath the matting is often irritated skin, fleas, or other skin issues. Please do not ask us to dematt your pet if we have informed you that they are severely matted. This is a painful process (for your pet and the groomer too!) of breaking the tangled fur.
Please keep in mind we allocate a certain amount of time to groom your pet. If they are matted, it is important to inform us when making your appointment so we can plan for extra time to groom them.
Dematting fees will be assessed by the amount of time the extra brushing takes. We can give you an estimate before you drop off if you would like.
